Safeguarding

Keeping children safe at Brinsley Football Club

At Brinsley FC, every child has the right to feel safe, respected and supported. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility – players, parents, coaches, volunteers and committee members all have a part to play.

If something does not feel right, please speak up. A concern might be about a child’s welfare, bullying, poor practice, adult behaviour, discrimination, intimidation or anything that makes a child feel unsafe, worried or uncomfortable. Concerns should always be raised through the correct route, not through gossip, public messages or group chat disputes.

Safeguarding referral route

Please use the referral route below if you have a welfare or safeguarding concern.

What to do if you have a concern

If you see, hear or become aware of something worrying, please do not ignore it.

The process is simple:

  1. A concern is noticed.
  2. Tell the Club Welfare Officer
  3. The Welfare Officer reviews the correct route.
  4. Concerns are escalated where required.
  5. If there is immediate danger, call 999 straight away.

The Club Welfare Officer is the first point of contact for welfare and safeguarding concerns at Brinsley FC. Serious concerns, possible abuse or immediate risks must be escalated without delay.

How concerns are handled

Brinsley FC will take welfare and safeguarding concerns seriously. Concerns will be listened to, recorded appropriately and shared only with the people who need to know in order to protect a child.

Some low-level concerns or poor practice may be managed locally by the club. Safeguarding concerns, serious behaviour or possible abuse may need to be escalated to Nottinghamshire FA, The FA, Children’s Services, Police or the NSPCC.

Speaking up is the right thing to do

Raising a concern is not causing trouble. It helps protect children and keeps Brinsley FC a safe, positive and welcoming place to play football.

Players should tell a trusted adult if they feel unsafe, worried, bullied or uncomfortable. Parents and carers should raise concerns calmly, privately and through the correct route.

Our safeguarding promise

Brinsley FC will always place the welfare and safety of children above results, reputation or convenience. We will listen, act appropriately and follow the correct safeguarding route when concerns are raised.
